Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run two different cooks at once?

At this point, no, SmokeLab can only process one ongoing cook at a time. We
are working to bring this functionality into an upcoming version of the app.

I scan a bar code, but nothing gets entered into the field – how do I fix this?

Certain items are not loaded into the database that our app searches when a
bar code is scanned. In that case, you need to manually enter the product(s) you are using. We are constantly looking to improve the database, so if there are recommended items to be added, please give us your feedback through our website. Alternatively, you can help the SmokeLab community improve the database by downloading the "Barcode Lookup" app, which will allow you to submit items for inclusion into the database.

I forgot to click the “Meat On” button at the right time. Can I still click it?

Unfortunately, no. If you forget to click the "Meat On" button, we recommend that you make a note of the correct time in the in one of the notes fields or add a custom activity that reflects the time you actually put the meat on the smoker.

Will my cooks be saved with the free version?

Yes, your cooks will still be saved with the free version of the app, but you will only get 3 free cooks. We recommend upgrading to the Premium version of the app as you will get unlimited cooks and storage for $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year. You can also purchase 3 additional cooks for a flat fee of $4.99.

I have more than one thermometer that I use, am I able to select both for my cook?

At this time, you are only able to select one thermometer during a cook. We are currently working on an updated version of the app where you would be able to choose more than one thermometer for each cook.
